Definition: Video Advertising


A video ad is an ad using a video to advertise a product or service. They are generally much more successful than static ads.

Video Advertising has become exceptionally common and occurs not only around other videos (as pre-roll, mid-roll, or post-roll ads) but as ads on their own. On social media, video ads are used in the same way as image ads now.

Videos embedded within ads (such as in Video MPUs) are entirely commonplace nowadays too.

Video ads generally earn/cost more money than text or image ads, and are often charged on a Cost Per View basis.
